Semarak Kemerdekaan melalui Gerakan Peduli Lingkungan dan Gotong Royong dalam Menyambut Hut Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia

Abstract

A Community Service activity titled “Celebrating Independence through Environmental Care and Gotong Royong (Mutual Cooperation) in Welcoming the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day” was conducted in Pucanggading, Demak Regency, Central Java. The activity aimed to increase public awareness of environmental cleanliness while strengthening the spirit of gotong royong as a form of community solidarity. The commemoration of Indonesia’s Independence Day was used as an opportunity to encourage residents to participate in meaningful activities that provided direct benefits to the environment. The activity employed a participatory approach by involving local residents in several stages, including preparation, outreach and education, environmental cleaning, waste collection and sorting, beautification, and evaluation. Residents worked together to clean neighborhood streets, drainage channels, public facilities, and residential areas, as well as improve the surrounding environment in preparation for the Independence Day celebration.The results showed positive changes in environmental cleanliness and tidiness, accompanied by increased community participation in collective activities. The activity also enhanced awareness of proper waste management and strengthened the values of gotong royong, cooperation, and social responsibility. This initiative is expected to encourage sustainable habits through regular community-based environmental activities.
