Kajian Penciptaan Tari Kontemporer Noisetrha sebagai Representasi Kebisingan Sosial

Abstract

The creation of dance works inspired by social phenomena serves as an artistic medium for responding to contemporary social dynamics. Noisetrha is a contemporary dance work inspired by social noise, referring not only to audible sounds but also to the overwhelming flow of opinions, judgments, expectations, and information disseminated through social media and everyday interactions. These invisible forms of noise influence individuals’ perceptions, behaviors, and social relationships. This study aims to describe the creative process of Noisetrha and examine its implementation in developing choreography. The research employs a qualitative method using a Practice-Based Research (PBR) approach, positioning artistic creation as both the research method and outcome. The creative process follows Alma M. Hawkins’ theory, consisting of three stages: exploration, improvisation, and composition. Data were collected through literature review, observation of social phenomena, movement exploration, improvisation, composition, artistic evaluation, and documentation. The findings reveal that social noise can be transformed into contemporary dance through the integration of movement, space, time, energy, music, artistic elements, and colorful ropes symbolizing words, emotions, judgments, and social pressures that intertwine human life. Noisetrha portrays how invisible social noise can influence, shape, and constrain human existence. This research contributes to contemporary dance creation studies by demonstrating how social phenomena can become meaningful sources of artistic inspiration and social reflection.
