Abstract

This study was conducted at the Gelugur Rimbun Experimental Field of Universitas Pembangunan Panca Budi, located in Hamlet 3, Sampe Cita Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The experiment employed a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) consisting of two treatment factors. The first factor was oil palm stem biochar applied at four dosage levels: 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 kg plant⁻¹, while the second factor was cattle manure enriched with cassava plant residues applied at four dosage levels: 0, 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 kg plant⁻¹. Each treatment combination was replicated three times. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% significance level. The observed variables included plant height, leaf number, stem diameter, husked ear diameter, husked ear weight, unhusked ear weight, shoot dry weight, and root dry weight. The application of oil palm stem biochar and cattle manure enriched with cassava plant residues significantly improved plant height, leaf number, stem diameter, husked ear weight, unhusked ear weight, shoot dry weight, and root dry weight, but had no significant effect on husked ear diameter. Moreover, no significant interaction was observed between the two treatment factors for any of the measured variables.
