Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Daun Kemangi (Ocimum Basilicum L) terhadap Tekanan Darah pada Pasien Prolanis dengan Hipertensi di Klinik Iman

Introduction: Hypertension is the leading cause of preventable cardiovascular diseases worldwide. This condition is often reffered to as the "silent killer" because it slowly damages the heart, blood vessels, and other organs without showing obvious symptoms. Basil leaves contain flavonoids that show the capacity to inhibit angiotensin-converting enzymes, basil leaves also contain magnesium which has an antioxidant effect in preventing hypertension by reducing vascular damage due to oxidative stress. Objective: To analyze the effect of basil leaf extract (Ocimum basilicum L) on blood pressure in Prolanis patients with hypertension at IMAN Clinic.Methods: This type of study is a quantitative research using a quasi-experimental design "pre and post test without control group design". 28 samples were given capsules containing 550 mg of basil leaf extract, with a dose administered 2 times a day for 30 days.Results: Basil leaf extract could lower systolic blood pressure by 6 mmHg p=0,018 (p<0.05) while diastolic blood pressure was 6.07 mmHg p=0,000 (p<0.05). Conclusion: Consumption of basil leaf extract (Ocimum basilicum L) significantly lowered systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure.
