Abstract

Pain management is an essential component of perioperative care that contributes to patient comfort, the success of anesthetic procedures, and the quality and safety of healthcare services. Effective pain management can reduce postoperative complications, accelerate recovery, support early mobilization, and improve patient satisfaction. Anesthesia practitioners play an important role in assessing, monitoring, and implementing appropriate pain management strategies; therefore, adequate knowledge of pain physiology, pain assessment, and evidence-based management approaches is required. This study aimed to describe the level of knowledge regarding pain management among anesthesia practitioners working in operating rooms. A descriptive quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted to assess respondents’ knowledge at a specific time. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire covering pain concepts, pain physiology, pain assessment methods, pharmacological and non-pharmacological management strategies, and the role of anesthesia practitioners in perioperative pain management. Data analysis was performed using descriptive univariate statistics and presented as frequency distributions and percentages to describe respondent characteristics and knowledge levels regarding pain management.
