Proficiency in the English language is essential for health students to convey health-related knowledge in both academic and professional settings. Environmental Health students could have challenges in verbal English, especially with fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammatical precision, and engagement. This research sought to enhance students' communicative proficiency via Project-Based Learning (PjBL) by implementing health education initiatives in an English for Health curriculum. The research utilised Classroom Action Research with 25 Environmental Health students at STIKes HAKLI Semarang, executed in two cycles that included preparation, action, observation, and reflection. Quantitative information was gathered using an oral communication performance rubric, whilst qualitative insights were derived from observation, field notes, documentation, project outputs, and reflective practices. The results indicated that the average score for communicative competence rose from 72 in the initial phase to 78 in Cycle I and 81 in Cycle II. The percentage of pupils attaining a score of 75 or higher rose from 20% to 80%, with the most significant enhancement shown in interaction and fluency. These results indicate that Project-based Learning (PjBL) via contextual health education initiatives can offer significant opportunities for the active utilisation of English and enhance students' communicative proficiency in Environmental Health settings.
