Analisis Kesalahan Penulisan Surat Oleh Mahasiswa Semester 4 Prodi Bahasa Mandarin Universitas Bunda Mulia

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the types of Chinese language errors found in personal letter writing by students of the Mandarin Language Education Study Program at Universitas Bunda Mulia. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach using error analysis. The data consisted of personal letters written by fourth-semester students enrolled in the Basic Chinese Writing 2 course. The data were analyzed through the stages of identification, classification, description, and interpretation based on the theory of Chinese language error analysis. The findings revealed six categories of errors: syntactic errors, Hanzi writing errors, lexical errors, letter format errors, punctuation errors, and pragmatic errors. Among these, syntactic errors were the most dominant, followed by Hanzi writing and lexical errors. These errors were mainly caused by students' limited mastery of Chinese grammar, vocabulary, Hanzi writing, and first-language interference. The findings indicate that many students still encounter difficulties in applying Chinese language rules accurately when writing personal letters. Therefore, this study is expected to provide valuable insights for improving Chinese writing instruction and to serve as a reference for developing more effective teaching strategies to enhance students' Chinese writing competence.
